Tako Wasabi for Tapas


As current food trend moves away from large family portions into smaller personalized plates, Japanese Izakaya pub dishes are gaining a seat at traditional sushi restaurants as well as mainstream Western restaurants. Considered to be “Japanese Tapas”, Izakaya dishes are small plated appetizers that pairs well with alcohol.
One of the staple Izakaya dish is none other than our own

Tako Wasabi (Seasoned Raw Octopus with Wasabi)

Azuma Foods is the original founder of this interestingly delicious dish, which came upon as a surprise about 20 years ago. Combining traditional Japanese items 'Shiokara (seasoned fresh seafood)' and 'wasabi (spicy horseradish)' resulted in exquisite flavour blend and unique texture. Creamy fresh octopus and crunchy Wasabi stems became an instant hit at local pubs all over Japan.

For those who prefer cooked seafood, there is 'Tsubukko Tako Wasabi'; same great taste with fully-cooked chewy octopus! It can be stir fried with pasta for milder taste for the whole family.
