[Quality Control Technician]

Quality Control Technician

Terms of Employment:
Full-Time, 40 hours per week

Wage Range:

From $20 ~ 21 per hour

Regular Work Hours:
Monday–Friday from 8:30 – 17:00

Main Job Responsibilities:

 

Routine Tasks

        • Prepare foot bath sanitizer daily and verify sanitizer concentration; record results.
        • Monitor and record temperatures of thawed materials, storage areas, coolers, and freezers.
        • Verify daily accuracy checks of production scales and QC monitoring equipment.
        • Monitor personnel hygiene and GMP compliance; document and report any non-compliance.
        • Check metal detector and X-ray systems to ensure proper operation; record results and assist with investigation if foreign material is detected.
        • Perform finished product checks such as weight, label verification, in-process checks, and sensory evaluation; record results.
        • Collect product samples and retain finished product samples according to the sampling plan.
        • Conduct daily sanitation inspections and assist with monthly facility inspections.
        • Perform routine pest control checks and report any signs of activity.
        • Conduct environmental monitoring and equipment cleanliness verification swabs as required.
        • Verify correct production labels are being used and controlled on the line.
        • Support the QC Coordinator/Manager with additional tasks as assigned.

Product Tests

      • Conduct incoming raw material inspections and release or hold materials as required.
      • Perform in-process QC testing using equipment such as pH meters, salt meters, and Brix refractometers.
      • Conduct microbiological testing for products and swabs or prepare samples for external lab testing.
      • Perform sensory evaluations following established criteria and record results.
      • Report out-of-spec results promptly and support investigation, corrective actions, and documentation.

 

 

Knowledge, Skill Requirements: 

  • Education and experience 
    • Minimum: 2-year Diploma in Food Technology or related discipline (Food Science, Microbiology) is required; QC/QA experience in food manufacturing is an asset. or
      • Minimum 3 years experience in food manufacturing with quality responsibilities (QA/QC).
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and a strong sense of accountability.
  • Working knowledge of GMP, sanitation, allergen controls, and HACCP principles.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with logical, data-based thinking.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective time management and ability to prioritize tasks to meet production timelines.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced food manufacturing/production environment.
  • Proficient with computers and standard office software (MS Word, Excel, and email).
  • Able to communicate effectively in English (spoken and written). Additional language(s) are an asset.
